The Skinny
I tug and squeeze and pull a bit,
They just won’t seem to zip.
I suck it in and try again
Afraid they just might rip.
I do a little Irish jig
And shake it all about.
I know that ‘skinny’s’ in, but I
Might have to do without.
They just won’t seem to zip.
I suck it in and try again
Afraid they just might rip.
I do a little Irish jig
And shake it all about.
I know that ‘skinny’s’ in, but I
Might have to do without.
The Captain
Shots went off all around them
The boat began to shudder
Reaching for his whistle
The Captain signaled an attack
On the outside a decorated Naval Commander
Composed and ready to fight
On the inside scared spit less
A child wanting to run and hide
He thinks of his young wife at home
All they good times they long to share
Yet his thoughts are interrupted
Wailing sirens bring him back
He crouches down and takes aim
His facade slides back in place
The boat began to shudder
Reaching for his whistle
The Captain signaled an attack
On the outside a decorated Naval Commander
Composed and ready to fight
On the inside scared spit less
A child wanting to run and hide
He thinks of his young wife at home
All they good times they long to share
Yet his thoughts are interrupted
Wailing sirens bring him back
He crouches down and takes aim
His facade slides back in place
And he fights on, The Captain.
Misunderstood
I wait in line
Impatiently tapping my foot
I hand over my card
And wait for the okay
I give the box a jiggle
My heart leaps to my throat
I gently tear it open
The little morsel touches my tongue
I savor the moment
Bliss beyond compare
I reach in and pull out another
Once again a delightful surprise.
I reach back in for just one more
But wait, they're gone already?
So much for Good & Plenty!
Impatiently tapping my foot
I hand over my card
And wait for the okay
I give the box a jiggle
My heart leaps to my throat
I gently tear it open
The little morsel touches my tongue
I savor the moment
Bliss beyond compare
I reach in and pull out another
Once again a delightful surprise.
I reach back in for just one more
But wait, they're gone already?
So much for Good & Plenty!
