Hello? Santa?

As many of you know, I come from a very close family. So close, in fact, that we all (well almost all) live in the same house. This has never presented a problem as I quite enjoy being so close to the family- especially the little ones.
.
I love coming home to the excited faces of the little ones as I walk through the door. I usually spend the rest of the day playing with the kids :)
.
This evening however, I have a project that I need to get done. But I swear the children can sense that- they wanted to play with me all day! They wanted me to dance with them and play Monster with them, etc. I finally had to go in my room and shut the door, but alas.. My little niecelet repeatedly knocked on the door to give me a "pizza delivery" (which consisted of a jar of clothes pins).
.
After several attempts to explain that I am busy and can't play today, they still weren't catching on. With all three of the children playing around my room (careful to close the door behind them) I realized I would have to take more drastic measures if I was to get any work done.
.
While I watched my niece jump around my closet and repeatedly lick my fan, I came up with a scathingly brilliant idea- I would just call Santa and tell him the kids were being naughty. In an attempt to redeem themselves, I assumed the children would quietly shuffle downstairs to play and leave me to my work, as "nice" little children would.
.
I picked up my cell phone and dialed- when the voice answered I reported to "Santa" about the bad behavior of the three and told him to make a note. To my dismay, the scheme did not go over as planned. Crestfallen my niecelet sank to the floor and began to sob.
.
I explained to her that if she would be good I would just call Santa back and have him put her name back on the "nice" list. Yet to no avail, all of my attempts to comfort her failed. She believed she was now getting coal for Christmas.
.
I picked her up to soothe her and finally admitted to my prank. I didn't call Santa- I called Mommy. It took several minutes for this to sink in, but once it did I was back to square one. Only this time my niece stuck around, demanding that I give her Santa's number!
