Tickle your Tastebuds

I once heard a saying, "the older I get, the better I was" - In my case, however, this plaque should read, "the older I get, the pickier I become." As a child I was exposed to a wide variety of foods, including just about every vegetable there is; so fruits and vegetables are not the problem. No,no. My tastebuds are selective when it comes to meat. In my mind there are 2 meat groups: 1- Those that I will eat 2- Those that I will not eat. Category 1 consists of chicken, beef and pork-- but just because they are listed in category 1 does not mean that they belong there. Even then, the meat must be cooked and seasoned just right = burnt and not tasting like meat. Category 2 contains every other kind of meat.
.
With a rather narrow pool of meats to choose from, it is no wonder that I am often iron deficient and low on protein. Oddly enough, I can actually feel when I am in need of iron. My body is very good at telling me when I need to fill up = a Wendy's run on the way home to quickly get red-meat (or black in my case) and iron into my system.
.
Last week I could feel my body calling out to me for meat. Although I had packed a nice vegetable soup for lunch, I knew I needed iron. So, on the suggestion of my brother-in-law, I went to Subway and got my first Meatball sandwich.
.
Oh, how to describe the joy as that sandwich entered my mouth?
.
Scrumptious. Mouthwatering. Savory. Delectable. Heavenly. Delightful. Fit for a King.
.
Don't believe me? Try it for yourself! I'll even give you Eric's secret toppings.. Shh.. Don't tell!
.
Start with a Meatball Sandwich on Italian Herb and Cheese Bread -  Toasted with Provolone. Then top with Spinach, Onions, Parmesan Cheese and Chipotle Ranch Dressing.
.
Now maybe it was just a fluke that the sub was soo good. Maybe it was just what I needed. Maybe it just hit the spot... Or just maybe it really is that good. But don't take my word for it...
